About the role

In this hands-on role, you will be reporting to the Executive General Manager - Client Operations, supporting, engaging and advising our operations managers and site teams to deliver work in a safe, healthy, high quality and environmentally responsible manner.

Partnering with our stakeholders and site management teams, you will ensure our sites:

  • Experience a positive and supportive health and safety culture geared towards the safety, health and welfare of everyone on site
  • Develop robust, fit for purpose policies, processes, procedures and training to deliver on our commitments to Health, Safety, Quality and Environment
  • Deliver training, support and expertise for our project teams to provide safe, healthy and environmentally responsible delivery of our projects
  • Lead, implement and deliver group wide policies, training and compliance with our site and group wide
  • Assist the leadership team and executive management team by providing expertise in the implementation and continuous improvement of safety management systems across Daifuku Oceania sites
  • Conduct or assist with conducting internal audits, incident investigations, risk assessments and reviews.
  • Ensure compliance to safety, quality & risk management legislation across the allocated site
  • Ensure hazards are identified, risks are methodically assessed, and corrective control measures are promptly implemented and reviewed
  • Monitoring return to work (RTW) cases, regularly communicate with external workers compensation / injury management providers, internal management, and the injured employee
  • Championing the development and implementation of our Safety Pillars, Safety Absolutes and Core Company Values

About you

As a Health and Safety and Environment Manager you will have proven experience, preferably within a construction or high risk-based environment.

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or similar
  • Experience in construction or high-risk site workplace Health and Safety management
  • A working knowledge of local site workplace Health and Safety legislation, regulations, standards, procedures, and codes of practice
  • Demonstrate the skills to foster a supportive and high performing Health, Safety and Environment culture
  • Experience in practical application of health, safety and environment processes
  • Experience in incident case analysis method, lead investigation or similar
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001,9001 and 14001 criteria and experience in applying these in the workplace.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines
