About the role

As a Global Leader in material handling automation Daifuku Oceania continues to experience rapid growth. Working in collaboration with our Sales, Procurement and Operations & Maintenance functions, the Electrical and Safety Engineering Team designs and delivers an increasingly complex portfolio of material handling projects for aviation and logistics clients.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, based in our Auckland Office, you will be designing, implementing and standardising low voltage electrical systems in accordance with defined project parameters (scope, budget, schedule and quality) for projects undertaken by Daifuku OC.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Designing, documenting and delivering low voltage electrical systems
  • Producing field device layouts, electrical schematics in accordance with contract specifications and local standards using E-plan and Autocad
  • Designing calculations for the correct sizing and selection of cables and electrical equipment
  • BOM procurement and third-party technical clarification
  • Managing motor control panel manufacture tenders and sub-contract builds
  • Maintaining, streamlining and selecting electrical devices and maintaining technical manuals
  • Liaising with mechanical/controls team to provide electrical systems solutions standardising bracketry for electrical devices as well as electrical designs including MCP
  • Developing and maintaining E-plan and Autocad libraries
  • Creating and maintaining electrical installation best practices engineering visits to client sites to carry out installation audits as well as attendance at client / project meetings
  • Developing tender documentation for electrical installation RFQ
  • Producing safety verification and validation documentation
  • Developing and training engineers in the use of automated systems

About You

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will have proven experience in detailed electrical system engineering design as well as in depth knowledge of electrical systems including detailed design, costing and project management. You will be recognised for the accuracy of your work and innovative thinking to minimize design variation and efficiently deliver cost and time bound solutions.

You are proficient with the safety standards: AS/NZS 4024, ASNZS 3000, ISO and IEC, particularly 13849-1 & 2, 62061 AND 60204. Knowledge of international standards - European, US, Canadian and Japanese would be a great benefit.

You must have strong expertise with E-plan electrical design, particularly around development and streamlining processes and libraries. With Tertiary qualifications in Mechatronics, NZCE electrical, Bachelor of Engineering or extensive industry experience.

Based on your problem solving ability, critical reasoning, innovative thinking, relationship building and communication skills are seen as a trusted advisor by your stakeholders. You enjoy working in a supportive team, where knowledge sharing is encouraged.
