Maintenance Technician - Mechanical

About the Role

As a Global Leader in material handling automation Daifuku continues to experience rapid growth. We have a great opportunity for a qualified and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team at Tullamarine.

As part of the team, you will be responsible for maintaining and conducting preventative maintenance and providing breakdown responses on all Material Handling Systems (MHS) and other associated freight equipment based at the site. Ensure the Materials Handling System (MHS) operate in a manner that exceeds the performance standards required by the client and according to KPI's provided.

As part of a supportive team your key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Ensure that the materials handling system is operational and issues are rectified safely, quickly, and efficiently
  • Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of equipment within DOC contractual obligations
  • Support and assist other Technicians
  • Proactive day-to-day supervision of all operational activities to ensure DOC delivers outcomes required by our client as a minimum standard
  • Monitor and report on systems performance
  • Fault clearance
  • Materials jam clearance
  • Maintain all customer and DOC equipment in a serviceable and clean condition
  • Spare parts management and maintenance scheduling using the site CMMS (MEX)

About you

As a Maintenance Technician Mechanical, you'll have gained experience in a warehouse, production or related environment. You enjoy working as part of the supportive and dedicated crew, focused on getting the job done safely. You will be used to respond to faults and understand that at times there will be routine tasks to perform. This is a great role for someone who wants to work with leading-edge technology, where you can share your knowledge and continue to learn.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Sound technical understanding of automated control systems in a Materials Handling Systems (MHS) or high-speed processing environment
  • Have a strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand mechanical assembly drawings
  • Demonstrated understanding of Freight operational systems
  • Trade qualifications in Mechanical background
  • Experience in mechanical drives, including gearboxes, and conveyor belting
  • Experience in pneumatics and Hydraulics including Solenoid Valves, cylinders, and flow regulators
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, and Excel
  • Experience with SCADA would be an advantage
